Layers of Protein: Ala Foods Introduces New Protein Bar Solution

Ala Foods has developed a new protein solution to help manufacturers create indulgent protein bars with high levels of protein in every layer.

80% of consumers express interest in protein (up from 69% in 2014) 1 and protein bars are increasingly common in retail stores.

However, most protein bars have a single texture compared to the delicious candies that offer multiple textures. This is a challenge in an increasingly saturated protein bar market, as food texture is a major driver of consumer purchasing decisions.

Now, Ala Foods Group has launched a protein bar concept. Based on this concept, brands are able to increase the protein content of all parts of their protein bars, including bar bodies, fillings and coatings, without increasing their size or affecting taste or texture.

The new formula is based on the company's Lacprodan® range of premium whey and milk protein ingredients. It ensures that fragrant chocolate bars retain their flavor and softness throughout their shelf life, and each protein bar provides 30% protein, allowing merchants to make high-protein claims on the packaging. As a new solution, brands can use formula prototypes or use them as the basis for their own formulas.

Laima Liepinyte, Sales Development Manager, Health and Performance Nutrition, Ala Foods Ingredients, said: “In a branded protein bar market, consumers are looking for high-protein products that are as attractive as candy, and manufacturers need to capture the consumer’s attention. .Using Lacprodan® ingredients, they can create multi-layered protein bars that are rich in texture, soft and light, with a creamy taste. In addition to providing a path to success for manufacturers focused on health foods, this new concept also provides high-protein confectionery products New doors opened."

This new concept will be launched on September 15th at a webinar hosted by Ala Food Ingredients Group in partnership with Nutrition Integrated: bit.ly/3AuJ5y9

It will also be on display at SupplySide West in Las Vegas on November 2 and 3.
