FSSAI amends standards of Ghee & Milk Fat Products

The Food Safety and Standards Amendment Regulations, 2020 came in fore as per sub-section (1) of section 92 of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 (34 of 2006).

The  notification of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India number F. No. M&MP/Notification (05)/FSSAI-2019, dated the 21st July, 2020, in the Gazette of India, Extraordinary, Part III, Section 4, invited  objections and suggestions from those who are likely to be affected by the regulation.  The last date  was decided to be sixty days from the date on which copies of the Official Gazette containing the above mentioned notification were made available to the public.

It is crucial to reckon that the copies of the  Gazette were made available to the public on the 30th July, 2020. Consequently, the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India  received objections and suggestions accordingly.

The apex body of food safety   has made regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by clause (e) of sub-section (2) of section 92  with section 16 of the said Act. The aim is to further amend the Food Safety and Standards (Food Products Standards and Food Additives) Regulations, 2011.
